The costume can be made unique with further refinements like a cape, different weapons, greaves to protect the shins, and armbands. A spear could also be carried around, but that would probably be dangerous.

With the man dressing as the Centurion, his partner has a choice of dressing up as one of the beautiful Roman ladies or as one of the uncontrollable barbarians contesting the Romans.
